Tofu Shake-Shake: A Crunchy Road Trip Snack

Using tofu to make snacks — why not? For those who love weekend picnics or camping trips, homemade tofu snacks can easily replace store-bought junk food or forgettable fast-food nibbles.

This idea actually came to us during a road trip not long ago. We had to drive 600 kilometers a day and looked for something tasty to snack on the seat — something fun, light, and satisfying.

🥢 Here is the simple steps to make it :

Cut tofu into small cubes, coat them lightly with egg white, and fry until golden and crisp on the outside.

Grind cumin, Sichuan peppercorns, sesame seeds, pistachios, and a pinch of salt together.

Place both the tofu cubes and the spice mix into a small box with a tight lid. Then — shake it! —until every piece of tofu is evenly coated in flavor. So we call it “Tofu Shake-Shake.”

We also tried the same method with homemade fries, just for comparison. Surprisingly, the tofu version won! Even after cooling, the Tofu Shake-Shake stayed crisp on the outside, tender inside, and full of fragrance, while the fries turned soft and soggy.

Of course, from a health perspective, tofu also brings far more goodness.
